Results: Seay beat Collins ,6 —4, 6—4, 6—l; Cornell beat Wallace 7—5, s—l, 6—4; Colvin beat France 6—4, 6—4, I—6, b—3 ; Smyth beat Crawford 6—3, 6—4, 5—7, —6, 6—2; Andrews beat Dunlop 6—l. 6—3, 3—6, B—6, Wilson beat M‘Dougall 6—3, 6 —3, 6—B, 7—5. In the doubles Smyth and France beat M‘Ellone and Willard 6—3, 6-y4, 6—4; Raker and Clemenger beat Wilson and Wallace 6—l, 6 —4, 7—5. In the mixed doubles Seay _ and Miss Harrington beat Medcalf and Miss Velkenburg 6—l, 6—3. In the junior single Andrews "beat Webb 6 — l, 6 — 4.
AUSTIN DEFEATS GILBERT. LONDON, April 12. (Received April 13, at 10 p.m.) In the first round of the- British hard court championship, H. W. Austin beat J. B. Gilbert the Davis Cup player, 6—4, 6—2, 5—6, 6—3.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
