(Received April 13, at 5.5 p.m.) Sir Joseph Cook, writing in the l Morning Post, announces that he has purchased the only contemporary picture of Captain Cook’s first ship, the Endeavour, for the National Gallery at Canberra. Experts say that rt was painted by Thomas Luny, and that it commemorates the excitement at Whitby when the Endeavour sailed under the White Ensign to explore the South Seas.—A. and NiZ. Cable.
