PORT CHALMERS METHODIST CHURCH.
SEND-OFF SOCIAL. The congregation of the Methodist Church a' Port Chalmers tendered a send-off social last night to the Rev. C. B. Jordan, who has been transferred to Tauranga. As Mr Jordan has been active in the discharge of his pas-oral duties and has also rerideied practical assistance in many local activities, the church last night was well filled. Members of other denominations were present, and ministers attended to wish their colleague success in his new pastorate. The Rev. J M. M'Kenzie said he was somewhat handicapped in the matter of send-offs, as he had only been six months in Port Chalmers. Nevertheless, be knew they would all miss Mr Jordan arid they felt confident he would soon make for himself as good friends in his new field as he had in Port Chalmers. He .was good as a team worker, and possessed the happy knack of working in co-operation with other denominations. The Rev. Mr Finch conveyed the good wishes of the Congregationalists, for they, too, held Mr Jordan in high esteem. Similar good wishes were expressed by the Rev. Mr Roberts (Anglican) and by Captain Kennard, of the Salvation Army. Mr T. Halkness, circuit steward, said they were sorry to lose Mr and Mrs Jordan, who were called to a wider field of activity He had great pleasure in asking Mr Jordan to accept a leather suit-case, and Mrs Jordan a gold wristlet watch as tekens of esteem from the congregation Mr Jordan, in reply, acknowledged his indebtedness for the gifts and expressed appreciation of the loyal support extended to him by the congregations He had been pleased to work in conjunction with the other ministers of the town. Needless to eay, he and Mrs Jordan would long remember with pleasure their stay in Port Chalmers.
