Ministerial. The Hon. W. Nosworthy (Minister of Finance), who is at present staying at Onslow House, had no engagements of an official nature yesterday. He will leave to-day for Mount Cook. Sir Francis Boys, general manager of the New Zealand Refrigerating Company, returned to Christchurch by the through express yesterday. Mr C. J. Payne was a passenger for Wellington by the through express yesterday. Mr J. B. Shacklock left by the through express yesterday on his way to Auckland. Mr and Mrs A. Elliott and Miss Elliott, of Wanaka, left by the through express yesterday en route to England on a holiday tour. Mr W. H. Hagger, Conciliation Commissioner, having completed his business in Dunedin, will be a passenger by the first express for Christchurch this morning. A Nelson Press Association telegram announces the death of Mrs Frances Rees, widow of the late Mr W. G. Rees. The deceased had been living with Mrs Marsden, of Isel, Stoke. Her husband was the original discoverer of the possibilities and the extent of Labe Wakatipu. Mr Zane Grey, who has been fishing in the north for the past two months, has broken camp, and with the memhets of his party was to return to Auckland yesterday. The noted writer and angler will spend some time fishing at Taupo before returning to America. Mr C. Alma Baker, of the Straits Settlement, and Mr B. Horsburgh, of Edinburgh, have also returned to Auckland from the Bay of Islands. News has been received of the appointment of Mr Roy Roberts, eldest son of Mr and Mrs W. G. Roberts, of Christchurch, to the position of engineersurveyor to the Fijian Government (says the Christchurch Press). Mr Roberts was educated at the Christchurch Boys’ High School, and took his engineering course at Canterbury College. For about three years he was employed by the Public Works Department on engineering work in the North Island, but for the past few months he has been working for a private firm.
