The Primary Producers’ Union meeting, it, discussing the butter and cheese industry, resolved that endeavours be made to get in touch with New Zealand with a view to making arrangements regarding co-ordination of effect between the Dominion and Australia. THE MORT’S DOCK STRIKE. DEPUTATION TO MINISTER. SYDNEY, March 25 A deputation from the Iron Trades Union asked the Minister of Railways to provide work for about 6CO men who are idle as the result of the strike at Mort’s dock. The union officials declared that these men were not strikers, but those affected by the strike. The Minister promised to refer the matter to the Minister of Labour and Industry, who was deputed to deal with matters relating to the strike. NEW GOVERNOR OF VICTORIA. LONDON, March 25. (Received March 25, at 9 p.m.) The Australian Press Association understands that Lord Somers will most likely land in Melbourne on June 26. APPOINTMENT OF NEW ZEALANDER. MELBOURNE, March 24. Mr Bruce has announced the appointment of Mr G. A. Julius, who graduated in Engineering in the University of New Zealand in 1896, and who is a son ol Archbishop Julius, as chairman of the Executive Committee of the Institute of Science and Industry.
