IMPORTATION OF PLANTS.

TWELVE MONTHS’ RECORD. Tlie following is an official record of the importation of plants for the last financial year, supplied to the Association of Nurserymen by the courtesy of the director of the Horticultural Division (Mr J. A. Campbell) : Auckland.—ll2o citrus trees from Australia ; 9400 plants (ornamental and flowering), from various countries. Wellington.—92 packages of plants from Australia; 40 from British Isles; 13 from Holland; 19 from various countries. Christchurch. —519 fruit trees and bushes. 8023 roses, 5943 ornamental trees and plants, 14,527 strawberry plants, 200 citrus trees, and 2200 grasses from Australia; 25 tree and fruiting bushes from England; 53 rose* and 1413 ornamental trees and plants. 139 roses, 2000 fruit trees and shrubs, 8520 ornamental trees and shrubs, 12 citrus trees. 47 trees and plants. Dunedin.—72B fruit trees. 1321 ornamental and flowering plants, 426 roses, 112 plants, 10 packages fruit trees, 2275 ornamental and flowering plants, 1920 strawberry plants. 40 roses, 120 bush plants, 355 ornamental plants. j ■ Invercargill.—62 roses and 167 pot plants from Australia. The bulbs imported were: Auckland.—42 cases, 915 postal packages from various countries. Wellington.—4o packages from Holland ; 37 packages from Australia; 15 packages from China ; 16 packages from various countries ; 466 packages bulbs and plants (postal) from Australia: 441 from British Isles; 389 from Holland; 173 from Cook Islands; 150 from various countries. Christchurch. —123 packages from Australia; 149 from England; 141 from Holland; 36 from various countries. Dunedin.—ll 6 packages from British Isles; 62 from Holland; 60 from Australia; 35 from various countries. Invercargill.—One package from China. The countries appearing under the heading of “various” include Fiance, th_e United States, Japan. Rumania. Belgium, South Africa and China. It is to be regretted that in the case of trees and plants no statement of values is obtainable, and in the eases of bulbs no statement of quantities is declared and values are not given. These items, it is hoped, will bo available with the next year's returns.
