ESSAY CONTEST. WHAT THE MOTION PICTURE MEANS. Do wo. want a grand tour of Australia? Or of “New Zealand? —with all expenses paid. Would you enjoy seeing in comfort the Jenolan Caves, Kosciusko, Tweed Heads, •Mt. Buffalo or Tasmania? or perhaps you’d rather visit Auckland, Rotorua, IVairatei, the Wanganui River, or Mt. Cook in New Zealand. If you are a regular reader of this newspaper or a patron of a motion picture theatre that is celebrating Paraipount’s Greater Movie Season during this month, you are eligible to compete for such a grand tour. Either of the tours of Australia or New Zealand will be awarded to the winner of the best essay (not to exceed more than 250 words) on this subject:—“What the Motion Picture Means to Our Community.” This newspaper has been selected by Paramount Pictures to conduct the contest exclusively in this district in co-opera-tion with motion picture theatres that will be celebrating the Greater Movie Season during all March. It is a known fact that the motion picture enlivens community' life and stimulates trade. It is the one great entertainment for vonng and old, rich and poor. Wherever tJiere is a motion picture theatre, business is in a healthy state. Accordingly, there is much food for thought in helping you to write a fine essay on the foreign subject. An esay of only 59 words may win the tour. It does not matter how you write it or how ungrammatical it is as long as your meaning of the subject is full of ideas and information of value. Here are the rules: — Essay must not exceed 250 words. Contest opens March Ist, and closes March 90th. Essays must be addressed to the Greater Movie Season Editor, care of this newspaper. Every essay must be accompanied by an application form (properly filled in) from the columns of this newspaper or from any motion picture theatre celebrating the Paramount Greater Movie Season. The Greater Movie Season Editor will adjudge the best three essays submitted to him and then forward them in turn to Paramount Pictures’ head office in Sydney, where final adjudging of the one best essay from Australia and New Zealaud will be done. The ’winner may select either of these tours : No. 1, Australia.—Brisbane, Tweed River, Heads, Sydney, Jenolan Caves, Blue Mountains, Kosciusko, Bulli, National Park, Melbourne, Jit. Victoria and Tasmania. No. 2, New Zealand.—Auckland, Rotorua, Wairakei, Waimareno, Wanganui, River, Wellington, Lyttelton, Christchurch, Timaru, and Mt. Cook. If a woman wins the grand prize, expenses of a travelling companion will also he paid. Cut out this application form and attach same to your essay when yon send it to the Greater Movie Season Editor of this newspaper.
