CAIRO MUSEUM

ROCKEFELLER RESEARCH GIFT. MISUNDERSTANDING EXPLAINED. (PiAssociation—By Telegraph—Ccpyr ght.) CAIRO, February 16. (Received Feb. 17, at 5.5 p.m.) Tlie apparently contradictory reports here and in New York relative to Mr John Rockefeller junr’s offer to the Cairo Museum are explained by Professor J. H. Breasted, who, in an interview, said that the offer was subject to conditions to be accepted by the Egyptian Government. While these conditions were being discussed garbled reports began, the circulation of which necessitated the publication of the facts. Mr Rockefeller might well think that pending the acceptance of the conditions no definite offer could be considered as having been made.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
