CYCLONE IN WEST AUSTRALIA
LUCKY ESCAPE FROM SCHOONER. CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE DONE. (Pt«M Association —By Telegraph—Copyright) PERTH, January 30. A cyclone struck the coastal districts in the vicinity of Broome, and caused considerable damage. The schooner Mena was blown ashore in Beagle Bay. and 51 people aboard managed to reach the snore safely after a hazardous swim of 500 yards. All the roads are blocked bv fallen trees, and many windmills A v ero overturned, he Beagle Bay mission station suffered severely, but, so far as known, nobody was injured. .
