Budapest messages state that the forged bank notes affair continues to be the subject of inquiry by a Parlaimentary Committee, and a police inquiry is demanded. The French authorities are also pursuing. the matter. The French police commissioner M. Foulcet is reported to be urging the re-examination of Windisgraetz anid Nadosy in order to clear up alleged discrepancies in their evidence. M. Foulcet also declared that it must he ascertained where the paper used to manufacture the forged notes 'was produced and where the machinery used in the process was hidden, for the French authorities are of the opinion that it will yet be found in Hungary. . , The Premier (Count Bethlen) in a speech in regard to the affair declared that if the Cabinet found that it made mistakes its members would resign. He was determined to clear up the affair. The Government had nothing to hide. The attacks from abroad originated from some despicable Hungarians, who knew that their only chance of success wss to plunigci honest leaders in the mire.—Reuter. As a result of an agreement between the Government and the Opposition a Parliamentary Commission of twenty-five members has‘been appointed to investigate the political side of the hank note affair. It will he entitled to summon all persons whose evidence is required. Meetings will be held secretly.
