AROUND NEW ZEALAND.

CRUISE OF LAUNCH REAM A NO. . I BOAT IN SOUTHERN WATERS. The Auckland-built and owned launch, Ruamano, which left Auckland on the evening of Christmas Day, arrived at Bluff at 3.48 p.m. on Saturday. The party travelling with the craft arc: Messrs A. H. Court (owner), J. B. Johnston (navigator), J. Kei'y (engineer), C. J. Codings (builder), and R. Noton. After leaving Auckland, the Ruamano called at Russell and Parengarenga before setting a. course for New Plymouth, Wa nganui, and Wellington, spending about two days at each place. Picton, thence to Queen Charlotte and Polorus Sounds, including D’Urville Island were the next places visited. Two more days were spent at Nelson before leaving for Greymouth where a supply of benzine was taken on board. The journey was continued the following day, a course being set for Milford Sound, where some of the most beautiful scenery, according to the party, was seen. The smaller sounds were worked out, but fiwing to the sandfly nuisance there, the party was forced to move out to the open sea. After doing the Sounds thoroughly they sojourned for some time at Preservation Inlet, wihoh they left on January 17. Strong Inlet, which they loft on January 17. Strong rain also as Bluff came into sight. On arrival at Bluff, the crew were all in perfect health and were looking forward to a visit to Stewart Island. The wind and sea moderated sufficiently to allow a comfortable passage across. The itinerary for the next stage of the Buamano's trip has been mapped out. Stewart Island, as already stated, will be visited, thence Bluff again for stores. Dunedin, Akaroa, and Lyttelton will be the last of tlic South Island ports where the' Ruainoiio will call. Prom Wellington to Mayor mam to try their luck with sword-fishing will occupy a largo part of the. cruise before Auckland is reached early in March.
