SERIOUS EXPLOSION

Forty persons were killed or seriously injured by an explosion in a munitions works, caused by a short circuit of an electric wire. Sparks fell in the explosives room, where men and women ■were employed. The dresses of thirty women were set on fire. They rushed about terror-stricken, resembling living torches. Many jumped from the windrows, breaking their arms and legs. Panic followed in the rest of the buildag.—The Times.
