A BABY’S DEATH. * CPee United Press Association.) : AUCKLAND, January 23. A baby girl aged nine months fell out bassinette and was killed. When the mother IMli-s Mary Biair, went in to see the child she found it suspended by its gown, with its foot just touching the floor. A doctor found that its neck was broken. At the inquest a verdict of accidental death, was returned. DEATH UNDER CK’ESSATKHT. WANT OF SKILL ALLEGED. ' . (Per United Press Associatmw.) • WELLINGTON, January 21. At an inquest held into the death of a child of five years, who died under an operation for the removal of its tonsils,_ the father protested strongly against assistants or students being allowed without superyiskM* to carry out intricate operations. He considered that a skilled man would have saved the hoy’s life. The evidence showed that the operation was performed by two doctors, one with 13 and the other with seven months’ experience. The coroner, however, pointed out that one of them had had considerable experience in this particular operation, and appeared to have employed usual and he:»t methods, though the operation had resulted in failure. Ha gave an open verdict .
