GERMAN MOTOR CARS.
EXHIBITION IN BERLIN. PROGRESS OF CONSTRUCTION Th j motor exhibition -was opened to da* with great ceremony by President Hmaenbur"- (wrote the Berlin correspondent ol a London naper on November 26). Th* esJnbition is not so targe as it was last year, but it contains evidence of the great pto* <n-e« made by the Germans m the construe :ion of cars for all purposes. . A special feature of the exhibition i» a new type of oar capable of carrying very heavy' loads. For weeks nest complaints have been made in the newsapers of the difficulty that the manufacturers of motor cars are experiencing. The manufacturers have organised their producing capabilities to a high standard, fcuo they are hampered first bv the general lack of capital and secondly by the rapidly decreasing demand, owing to the fact that money is extremely scarce also among customers. Herr von Opel, president of the exhibition made a powerful appeal in his opening speech to the public to buy only German cars. He stated that foreign cars to the value of £5,000,000 were imported into Germany in the previous year, and that if these cars had been nroduced in Germany work would have been given to 300,000 more men.
