PRINCESS THEATRE.
GEO. WARD REVUES TO-NIGHT. George Ward’s Snapshot Revue Company, fresh from northern triumphs, will make their Dunedin debut at the Princess Theatre to-night in a piece entitled ‘The Legend of the Ring,” said to be something quite out of the ordinary in the way of musical farce productions. And this claim is certainly justified in the critiques to hand. Thus the Brisbane Telegraph critics said: ‘‘George Ward’s Snapshot Revue Company fully deserved the plaudits of the large audience that welcomed them. George Ward and Bert Le Blanc had the audience, without exaggeration, quivering with laughter. One feels confident in asserting that when the curtain was rung down the audience was limp." The plot of “The Tale of the Ring 1, tells of an Indian temple ring which brings misfortune upon its wearer. The revue is presented in three scenes by a strong com pany, which Includes, in addition to the chief comedians named, Carlton Chase, Les. Warton, Dot Brown, Patsy Hill, Vernon Sellars, Daisy Yates, Yorke Grey, Dorrie Tointon, and a graceful ballet. The vocal strength of the company is up to a high standard, and the dressing tasteful and attractive. The whole revue is sparkling and clever, without the least suggestion of vulgarity. GERALD’S FAREWELL. Jim Gerald had a wonderful send-off last night, a capacity-plus house cheering the comedian to the echo. Presents were showered upon the popular performers, aud Gerald made a typically happy speech.
