TRAMWAY SERVICE TO ST. KILDA.

TO THE EDITOR. SlB, —Referring to the “local” in this morning’s issue of your paper as to the attitude of the St. Hilda, Borough Council to the service on the Tahuna and Plunket street sections of the tramways, I wish to point out, Sir, that the wording of the paragraph in question is not in the least indicative of the true feeling of either myself or of the council as a body. The two sections referred to were, it is true, mentioned by one councillor only in each case, hut certainly not in the strong terms of your report, and the resolution of the council was that the Tramway Department was to be commended for the manner in which it had catered for such increased demands 011 its resources. In fairness to all concerned, Sir, I would thank you to correct the paragraph referred to.—l am, etc., R. AV. Hall, Mayor of St. Hilda. St, Hilda, January 19. [Our report shows that the feeling of the majority of the members of the council was that the City Tramways Department was doing its best for all districts concerned. — ,jso. ojj.tjl
