ANGLO-IRAQ TREATY
APPROVED BY IRAQ PARDIAMENT. (Frees Association —By Telegraph—Copyright.) BAGDAD, January 18. (Received Jan. 19, at 9.55 p.m.) The Iraq Parliament has approved of the new Anglo-Iraq Treaty, which is virtually an extension of the former treaty, liftyeight voted in favour of it, and twenty dissatisfied members declined to vote. — A. and N.Z. Cable. WHY THE OPPOSITION DID NOT VOTE. BAGDAD, January 19. (Received Ja.u. 19, at 11.35 p.m.) The Opposition left the Chamber, it is understood, as a protest against the brief ■poriofL permitted for a study of the terms of the treaty, which was only revealed the previous day. King Feisul in a speech to the Deputies said that although the treaty was nominally for 25 years', many of its terms oould be modified when Iraq was a member of the League of Nations.—A. and N.Z.
