FREAK OF FASHION

WOMEN AND DINNER JACKETS. PARIS INNOVATION. (Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright.) PARIS, January 18. The latest freak of fashion demands that women .shall wear dinner jackets, with velvet collars, on informal occasions. The cut is identical with that of the male garment, but it lias wider lapels, one button, and a small breast pocket for the handkerchief. The vest also is of velvet, with three buttons. The skirt is of cheviot, traced with a narrow border of velvet. A lace frill with a black bow is used instead of a collar. The reason advanced for this radical change in costume is that it pelves the problem of the high cost of evening wear, though the lowest price quoted for the new style is £20.-r-A. and N.Z. Cable.
