WILDEN RUNS.

MANY APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. Applications for the much-discussed Wilden runs closed at the Laud Office at 4 o’clock yesterday afternoon, when a total of 69 persons lodged applications. It cannot be stated with certainty how many of these are discharged soldiers, but it may be taken for granted that the great majority are. The instructions in the advertisements made is clear that returned soldiers, if eligible in every respect; would receive an absolute preference at the ballot over all other applicants. Despite this, a few civilians applied, apparently on the offchance of there being no soldier applicants for a particular run. The number of applicants for run is: —3l for No. GOB, 56 for No. 699. ft for No. 610, 57 for No.' 611. The Land ,'loard will commence the work of examini the applicants to-morrow morning at ih. 3o.
