PRINCESS THEATRE.
GERALD’S LAST TWO NIGHTS. Jim Gerald’s stock has never been higher than now, with his departure impending:, and there is complete evidence that to-night and to-morrow night, the final nighte, there will bo “capacity plus” houses. Mr Gerald will present himself and company in a brand new musical comedy (from the pen of Reg Hawthorne), entitled “Once Aboard the Lugger.’’ The scene is laid in a Chinese court, and this setting gives plenty of scope for Jim’s comedy; he himself being an admiral. Specially gorgeous now scenery and striking costumes have been sent over from Sydney for this production, and Mr Gerald has given special attention to appropriate musical numbers, while the ballets, as in all his shows, are quite a feature. Arthur Farrell and Jessie Massey are the newcomers on the vaudeville side, a pair of London dancers who are said to introduce something piquant and brilliant in the way of fancy stepping. New acts are promised from the Musical Weatherleys (a quintet of admirable entertainers), the Atlnntios (contortionists), and Morris and Cowley (burlesque), while that remarkable engaging, and versatile comedian, Harold Walden (“The Yorkshire Gentleman”), will delight his auditors with a complete new repertoire.
GEORGE WARD REYUE—WEDNESDAY. On Wednesday evening George Ward and his Snapshot Revue Company make their debut. Something of Mr Ward’s piquant comedy stylo Dunedin patrons already know, but he returns with one of the best-equipped companies the Fullers have yet assembled, and with pieces which disclose at his very best the clever little Dutch-American comedian. Amongst first rank people in his east are our old friends Bert Le Blanc (himself a revue leader), Carlton Chase, Browne, attractive and sweet-voiced Patsy Hill, Vernon Sellars. Daisy Yates (that charming dancer), Yorko Grey, Dorrie Pointon, and a piquant ballet of six. The opening revue is “The Legend of the Ring.”
