LAWN TENNIS.
EXHIBITION CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT. The Exhibition Lawn Tennis Tournament, which commences at the Anderson’s Bay Courts this morning, promises to provide some excellent tennis, as a large number of the Dominion’s leading players are taking part in this tournament. Play will commence at 9 a.m. end will be continued on Saturday and Monday, morning and afternoon. Tea will be obtainable at the courts and official programmes can be obtained at the courts or from the Otago Sports Depot. PALMERSTON NORTH TOURNEY. (Per United Press Association.) PALMERSTON N„ January 4. The following additional championships were decided at the Palmerston North Lawn Tennis Club's tourney to-day; In the Ladies’ Singles Miss M. Macfariane (Auckland) defeated Miss DvJcio Nicholls (Auckland) —6—2, B—6. In the Men’s Doubles, H. L. Robson and T. Clark (Auckland) defeated E. D. Andrews (Palmerston North) and J. N. Lowry (Hawke's Bay)—the title holders—7—s, 6 —3. In the Mixed Doubles J. N. Lowry and Miss M. Macfarlano defeated H. L.” Robson and Mrs B. Campbell (Wellington)— G —3, 6—" l.
