OBITUARY

SIR AUSTIN CHAPMAN. (Pres» Association—By Telegraph—Copyright.) MELBOURNE, January 12. The death is announced of Sir Austin Chapman, member of the House of Representatives. He was a member of the first Commonwealth Parliament. Sir Austin Chapman at different times held various portfolios in the Federal Cabinet, having been Minister of Defence, Postmaster-General, and Minister for Trade and Customs. Ho was a member of the Commission to the Christchurch Exhibition. 1906-7. He was bom in 1864.
