How B.S.A. Motorcycles climbed Mount Snowdon. Mount Snowdon, the highest peak in England and Wales, can be ascended either by a rack rad way or by a rough mountain path. By either route an altitude of 3,560 feet is at: lined h travelling 4§ miles, giving an average gradient of steeper than I in 7, while in pin es the path assumes a slant of lin 2. Four B.S.A. Motorcycles ascended Snowdon lasi year, two diking the path and two the railway line. The path lay over loose shale and rough ooulders, with innumerable extremely steep pinches, and the railway line route involved riding over long stretches of iron sleepers projecting three and four inches above the ground. For a considerable distance both routes followed a ten-inch track right on the brink of a 2,00) feet precipice Not a nice place to go motorcycling, and the ordeal was made worse by driving rain and a terrific wind. But all four B.S.A.’s came through. Two of th-m, of the 3.49 h.p. O.H.V. Model, ascended the mountain path in 41 minutes 8 seconds and 58 minutes 34 seconds respectively. A machine of the same model ascended by the railway track in 24 minutes 6 seconds, and a lightweight 2.49 h.p. went up the same track in 30 minutes 54 seconds. These performances were officially observed, and are certified to by the Auto-Cycle Union, the governing body of motorcycling sport in Britain. MORAL : Buy a 8.5.
