new Zealand team for Australia. SYDNEY NEWSPAPER’S COMMENT. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. SYDNEY, October 27. The Daily Telegraph, reviewing the Now Zealand cricket team, says:—“New zlealand conditions are similar to those in England, and the visitors will probably take sonio time to accustom themselves to Australia’s fast, fiery wickets. The Dominion possesses some good batsmen, but the bowling department is lamentably weak. There are very few first class'trundlers, and on Australian pitches they will find their task much harder. With the English trip ahead, the States competing for the Sheffield Shield will field their strongest teams, consequently the New Zealanders are up against a stiff proposition.” y MATCH AT LAWRENCE. The cricket season was ushered in at Lawrence by a match between Lawrence and Beaumont at the Recreation Ground yesterday in ideal cricket weather. A oneinnings match resulted in a win for Beaumont by 3 runs. Beaumont scoring 60 runs and Lawrence 57. The chief run-getters on the Beaumont side were: Hart (13).
