WELLINGTON LADIES’ CHAMPIONSHIP. CPeb United Prebb Association.! WELLINGTON, October 27. The Wellington provincial ladies’ golf championships were commenced at Heretaunga to-day under unsatisfactory weather conditions. There were 48 entrants in the qualifying championships, the following 16 qualifying:—Miss Jervis (Hutt), 80; Mrs Watson (Palmerston North), 82; Miss Spiers (Hutt), 85: Mrs Guy Williams (Masterton), 85; Miss Aoheson (Nelson), 87- Miss Withers (Geraldine), 89; Miss Cato (Napier), 89; Miss Harkness (Nelson), 89; Miss Chrystnll (Christchurch), 90; Mrs Bristed (Christchurch), 91; M iss Gambrill (Wellington), 92; Miss Upharn (Hutt), 92; Miss E. Robieson (Masttrtcn). 93- Mrs Weston (Wellington), 93; Miss Culling (Auckland), 94. In the first round of the championship, played in tho afternoon, the following are the results:— Miss Spiers defeated Miss Upham. 2 up; Miss Jervis defeated Miss Culling, 5 and 4 ; Miss Withers defeated Mrs Wagg, 5 and 4; Miss Gambrill defeated Mrs Acheson, 6 and 5; Miss Cato defeated Miss Bristed, 5 and 4; Mrs Weston defeated Mrs Guy Williams, upon the nineteenth 'Teen ; Miss Chrystal! boat Miss Harkness, 4 and 2; and Miss Watson beat Miss Rohiesou, 5 and 4. WANGANUI TOURNAMENT. (Pbb United Press Association.) WANGANUI, October !>7. The Golf Championship was won to-day by Imlay Saunders, who defeated Seifert, 3 and 2.
