Greer, chairman of the Maniototo branch of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union, enclosing copy of a letter sent to the Minister of Internal Affairs, asking for a three months’ open season next winter for pukeko owing to the birds being so numerous The report was adopted with tho amendment that tho society support a request for a two months’ season at most. Members expressed the opinion that a three months’ Period was much too long, although tho birds were comparatively plentiful. In referring to the recommendation rh.aj. the society spend £2CO in bringing parttidges otti, from England, the chairman said he had received a letter which showed that the proposal was still “in the air.” It, would have to he gone into carefully, and the right; game would have to he obtained.
