There was good free sale in all .sections, with a tendency to firmer values in the sheep division. Store Sheep.—The entry was a small one. Ewes and lambs formed the bulk of the entry. These were up slightly on last week’s rales, and hoggets were also firmer. The best ewes and lambs made to 24s 6d all counted, shorn two-tooth wethers to 35s 6d, and ewe hoggets to 38s Id. Spring Lambs.-—ln all, 90 were forward, and they were sold from 26s 3d to 43s 9d. Fat Sheep.—There was an average yarding, including good consignments from Mid and South Canterbury and one lot from South Otago. There was an improved sale for light and shorn sheep, heavy woolly wethers being a shade slacker. Extra prime wethers made 57s to 6ls lOd. prime 47a 6d to 53s 6d, medium 43s 9d to 46s 6d, light 40s to 43s 6d, extra- prime ewes 45s 4d to 4Ss 3d, prime ewes 40s 6d to 445. medium ewes 37s 6d to 40s, light ewes 32s 10d to 365, prime shorn wethers 38s lOd to 41s 4d, ordinary shorn wethers 33s to 37s lOd, prime hoggets 35s to 39s 4d. Fat Cattle. —About 370 head were yarded, including two consignments from the North Island, half a dozen trucks from the West Coast, and a draft from Kaikoura. The market was irregular, but big beef was slightly easier than last week, whilst cows and heifers wore belter. Extra choice beef made up to 67s 6d per ICOIb, prime medium weight 52s to 555, prime heavy-weights 49s to 52s 6cl. medium quality 45s to 48s, light 40s to 43s 6d, inferior down to 30s per 1001 b. The outside beef was of medium quality. Extra nrime heavy-weight steers made £26 to £29, prime heavy steers £2l to £23 10s, medium-weight steers £l7 to £2O 10s, light steers £l4 to £l6 15s, rough steers £lO to £l3. ICs, extra prime heifers to £l9 2s 6d. prime Ijeifors £l3 to £l6 10s, ordinary heifers £9 10s to £l2 15s, light heifers £7 5s to £9, extra prime cows to £22 17a 6d, prime cows £l2 15s to £ls 15s, ordinary cows £9 15a to £l2 10s, light cows £8 to £9 12s, aged cows £5 15s to £7 15s. Voalers. —There was a strong vealcr sale, runners making to £8 17s 6d, other classes being better by ss. Store Cuttle. —There was a larger entry and a spirited sale, graziers attending in much larger numbers. Three and four-year-old steers matte to £lO, two-year-olds to £7, 18-months heifers £5. yearlings to 18-months steers and hoifers £3 13s 6d, cows 50a to £4 10s. ■ Dairy CattVi.—'There was a fair demand. Best springers made £6 10s to £lO 10s, medium £4 10s to £6. poor stores £3 to £4 ss, best springing heifers £6 to £lO, medium £3 to £5 10s, old cows 32s 6d to £3. Fat Pigs.—There was a medium entry and an irregular sale. Choppers made £3 10a to £7, baconor.s £4 5s to £6 (average price per lb to 9d), porkers £2 ICs to £3 15s (average price per lb 9d to 9jd).
