DUNEDIN GUN CLUB.
CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP WON BY MR GRAHAM. The members of the Dunedin Gun Club turned out in strong force at Green Island on Saturday afternoon, the event being the club's annual cup championship. Under the beautiful weather conditions prevailing the clay birds behaved in a very generous mood, except that the right hand bird at times acted in a tricky manner through being caught by the slight breeze, and eventually eluded the both barrels of competitors. However, the afternoon's .sport provided an excellent entertainment for members and visitors, of which there was a good attendance. All the shooters faced the trap at a distance of 14yds, and both Mr E. P. Graham and Mr A. A. Fairbairn finished up the 21 bird competition by securing 20 birds each. In the shoot-off for the championship Mr Graham proved victorious, Mr Fairbairn gaining the second-prize trophy, with Mr W. M'lntosh the third prize for hie 19 birds. Mr Graham secured all his birds with the first barrel, and Mr Fairbairn gained credit with a few long-distance second barrel shots. Mr G. E. Turner (president) conveyed the club's congratulations to Mr Graham, and the handing over of the championship cup proved a popular win by the singing of "He's a Jolly Good Fellow." The afternoon's sport concluded with the automatic trap being set for a double rise competition, and the sweepstake consisted of a six-bird match. This proved a novel event for the shooters, and with six birds each, Mr H. Smellie and Mr J. Potts (a new member) divided the prize money.
