GENERAL NEWS.

A very successful concert was given last Saturday night in the public hall. Sawyers’ Bay, by the Bible class members and Sunday school scholars of the Sawyers' Bay Presbyterian Church, under the direction of Mrs Pulton Falconer. The hall was crowded and the young performers acquitted them--selves admirably. The. concert was opened by the spectacular song entitled “Britannia.” Miss Annie Throp made a graceful and dignified “Britannia," and the music of this number went with a delightful swing, while New Zealand, England, Scotland, Ireland, and Canada were all incorporated in the characters represented. The item had to be repeated. The Bible class girls gave a delightful rendering of “The Gipsy Song” (in character), “Gone is the Winter,” “Tha Shepherd Song,” “Old Virginny” (in character), “Love at Home,” and “Beautiful Star.”’ Two humorous sketches entitled “Pulling Sambo’s Tooth,” and “A Family Disturbance,” were also given by the following Bible class members: —Annie Throp, Maisie Agnew, Mabel Logie, Margaret Millar, Margaret Pithie, Beta Kettle, Muriel Lang, Edie Robertson, Ronald Falconer, Tommy Downes, Robert Sanders, and (small boy) Ronald Cox. The smaller girls sang the “Photograph Song” also a song entitled “Lullaby Low,” during the singing of which eight little fairies tripped daintily about the stage. The small boys excelled themselves in the “Snowballing Song.” A number of recitations was also given. Great credit is due to Miss Downes and Miss Doris Stewart,, who so ably assisted Mbs Fulton Falconer in the training of the young folks. Mies Phyllis Millar also assisted in glaring some of the accompaniments. The Rev. E. L. Waiker acted as chairman, and he was accompanied by Mr Pulton Falconer (student in charge at Sawyers’ Bay). The concert closed with the singing of tha National Anthem.
