DRUIDISM.
The regular fortnightly meeting of the Pride of Mornington Lodge was held in the St. Mary’s Hall, A.D. Bro. Rutherford presiding over a fair attendance of brethren. The G.P., Bro. Churchill, accompanied by the G.T., Bro. Blrt, Bros, Smellie, Laing, and Rnston (Board of Management) were welcomed. DJ>. Bro. Reid, who is a regular visitor, was also welcomed. The usual business was quickly despatched, and the lodge adjourned for b«if an hour to give the members and visitors an opportunity to have a friendly chat and a cup of tea. On the meeting being resumed several toasts were honoured, that of the visitors being replied to by G.P. Bro. Churchill, Bros. Smellie and Ruston (Board of Management), and D.P. Bro. Reid. P.A. Bro. Hewitt, in the absence of the M.C., said a few words of welcome to the G.P. Linden Lodge met on Tuesday night. Correspondence having been received notice was given that three strangers were waiting to be admitted. The initiation of these strangers into the rites of Druldism was carried out in a very creditable manner, and after Bards’ reports and sick pay had been passed for payment the lodge adjourned to carry out the evening function—the fancy dress social. There was a very good" attendance of Indies, and a good evening's pleasure was partaken of, the old-time dances gaining distinct approval from young and old. Mrs Walker, as Early Victorian, received first prize for ladies, and Bro. Hewitt, Pride of Mornington, a pierrot, gained the decision among the men. A.D. Bro. Walker presided over a large gathering of members at the last meeting of the Otago Lodge. The routine correspondence was rapidly dealt with, and the sick pay was passed. One proposal for membership was received, whilst two candidates presented satisfactory certificates, and were initiated by A.D. Bro. Walker and his officers. The initiation work during the last six months has shown a remarkable improvement. During the evening DP. Bro. Paulis paid an official visit. In responding to the toast Bro. Faulds delivered an inspiring address on the juvenile movement. The feature of the vening was a Dutch auction carried out by P.A. Bro. Maslin.
