AUCKLAND, September 11. Amos George Taylor, Henry Newell, and Harry Rett.s were charged in the Police Court with the theft: of serge, stockings, and other articles from various vessels. They pleaded guilty. Thomas Langford was charged with receiving the serge, knowing it to have been stolon. All were remanded for sentence. William Robert Waugh, for the theft of goods, the property of tho New Zealand Shipping Company, was admitted to probation for two years. WELLINGTON, September 11. The executive of the North Island Motor Union last night decided to wait on the Minister of Internal Affairs (the Hon. 11. F. Bollard) for the purpose of recommending attention in the Lights of Vehicles Act to the enforcement that all vehicles shall carry rear red lights. It was decided that the Highways Board be approached urging the principle of acquiring land at road intersections to enable motorists to obtain a longer view at corners. GREYMOFTH, September 11. Tho State miners held a stop-work meeti.:g to-day in connection with the timbering dispute. It was decided to send a deputation to the Minister at Wellington. .Meanwhile the mine is idle.
