POVERTY BAY BEATS HAWKE’S BAY. (Peb United Press Association,l GISBORNE, September 10. A representative match for the East Coast Challenge Cup between Hawke's Bay and Poverty Bay was played at Gisborne to-day. An exciting game resulted in a win for the home team. Soon after the start, from a scramble in front of the goal, Wallace centred and Graham scored. The visitors pressed hard, two likely shots by Gardner and Leacester just failing. In the second half the Hawke’s Bay forwards attacked, and from a penalty Henderson found the net, equalising the scores. Play livened up towards the finish, but the whistle found scores even, necessitating another half-hour spell to decide the win ners. In the extra spell from a good homo attack, Graham scored, the final score being Poverty Bay 2, Hawke’s Bay 1. THE CHATHAM CUE FINAL. LEAGUE MATCH ON SAME GROUND., (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, September 10. At a meeting of the council of the New Zealand Football Association arrangements were completed for the final of the Chatham Oup between Y.M.O.A. (Wellington) and Seacliff (Dunedin;, to bo played at Wellington on September 19. As o few grounds are available, it was decided to fall in with a proposal that the Rugby League match. New Zealand v. Queensland, bo played on the same ground on the same afternoon.
