LAWN TENNIS.
ST. CLAIR CLUB. The annual general meeting of the St. Clair Lawn Tennis Club was held in the ■Hydro Tea Rooms, St. Clair, on Monday. Mr 1.. A. Rhodes occupied the chair and 31 members wore present. In moving the adoption of the report the Chairman congratulated the club on its having had so successful a season. He referred to the movement on foot for tho acquiring of new courts, and said that this year should prove really the deciding factor in this direction. The social side of the club had been an undoubted success, as was evidenced by the various enjoyable functions which had been held. Mr Rhodes was re-elected to the position of president, the other elections resulting as follows;—Vice-presidents—Messrs 11. llalliday, H. W. Jones, J. \V. Watson, S. Cam obeli, J. W. Thomson, A. T. W. Wood, C. A. Thomson, and T. C. Conll; sefcretarv, Mr L. E. Routledge; treasurer, Mr A. L. Twhigg; committee—Mrs Evans, Misses E. Moody, P. Piddington, J. T. Piddington, Capt. Evans, Messrs S. D. Cooke, W. H. York, E. Ruben, IT. Twhigg, and S. MTnnes; delegates to O.L.T.A.— Messrs W. li. York and 11. Twhigg; club captain, Mr H. Twhigg; tea committee— Misses J Moody and T. Harraway. Eighteen now members wore elected. The official opening of the club was fixed for September 19. BALMACEWEN CLUB. Tho annual mooting of tho Balmacewen Lawn Tennis Club was held on Tuesday night, Mr S. N. Brown, sonioi, presiding over a large attendance. Speaking to the annual report, tho Chairman congratulated the club on its continued progress. Ho stated that the membership was full and tho playing qualities were well maintainor! as had" been evidenced by tho success achieved both in tournament and intorclub matches. The report was seconded by Mr C. Robinson, and carried. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows; —Vice-president, Mr S. N. Brown, senior (re-elected for tho twenty-first time); secretary, Mr A. M’Miilan; general committee—Messrs B. Seymour, A. Buchler, C. Robinson, N. Wright; ladies’ committee —Mrs Stevenson, Misses Guthrie, MTntosh, and Duke; match committee—Messrs S. X. Brown, junior, Wilkinsoi. am] Buchler; ladder committee—Miss K. MTntosh and Mr B. Seymour; delegates to Otago Lawn Tennis Associa—(■ion—Messrs S. N. Brown, junior, and A. M'Millan Tho chairman then presented tho trophies won during the yeai arm congratulated tho players on their respective wins.
