(Received August 5, at 11.10 p.m.) A Frenchwoman named Mdlle Sion entered the water at Cape Grisnez this morning to swim the Channel. She was compelled to abandon her attempt at 9.50 in the evening when only a mile and a Quarter from Dover owing to the effects of the coldness of the water. —Reuter.
