HIGH SCHOOLS’ BOARD.
REPRESENTATIVES OF PARENTS. THREE NOMINATIONS. Nominations of candidates to fill two vacancies on the Otago High Schools Board of Governors as the . representatives of parents of pupils closed at noon yesterday. The following nominations have been received by the secretary (Mr C. jR.. M'Lean); Miss Helen Alexander,. B.A. (nominated by Jessie Hamilton Nimmo), Jefferson Counsell Stephens (nominated by Lewis Deans Ritchie), Herbert Webb (nominated by Matthew C. Henderson). Within the next few days voting papers will be sent to those who are entitled to vote, and these are returnable by July 24. Miss Alexander is a native of Dunedin, and a graduate of the University of Otago. After gaining considerable experience in primary school teaching, she was appointed to a position in the Otago Girls’ High School, where she remained for many years, and in the last year of the period acted as vice-principal. Later she held for throe years the post of mathematical mistress in lona College, Hawke’s Bay. Since her return to Dunedin she has taken an active interest in the work of the Free Kindergarten Association, of which she was president for four years, and is now one of the vice-presidents. She is also a member of the committee of the Otago University Women’s Association, and represents the Free Kindergarten Association on the executive of the Education Committee ot the Exhibition.
