YOUNG SEAMAN INJURED. {Peb United Pbesb Association.) NELSON, July 15. Yesterday George Campbell, aged 16, an ordinary seaman on the Orepuki, whose parents live >n Beaumont street, Invercargill, while proceeding hand over hand along a wire rope from mast to mast, fell a distance of 31ft on to a skylight, striking the back of his head. He was removed to the hospital with .concussion, and at a late hour to-night was unconscious, suffering- from extensive fracture of the base of the skull. His condition is regarded as grave. MYSTERY SOLVED. (Peb United Press Association.) NELSON, July 13. The mystery concerning the disappearance of Mr Colin Craigie, orchard instructor at Mapua, has been solved by the discovery of the body near Pelorus bridge, a third of. a mile from -where he was last seen. ELDERLY MAN’S FATAL FALL. The Supereinssndent of Police has been advised that Edward Winter, aged 65 years, died at Alexandra on Sunday afternoon as the result of injpiries received through a fall op the footpath. He was employed by the. Public Works Department as a labourer at Tarras. KNOCKS DOWN BY MOTOR OAR. Hugh Finlay, aged 70 years, was admitted to the Hospital at 5.30 p.m ; yesterday, suffering from injuries to his cheat, sustained through being knocked down by a motor car near the Queen’s Gardens. The injured man resides at Green Island. The Hospital authorities reported last night that his injuries were not of a very serious nature. A FATAL FALL. On Sunday evening Mrs Annie Brennan, of Bellevue' place, Port Chalmers, slipped on the steps outside her house, and in falling injured her head. Medical aid was procured, but she died during the night. An inquest will be held to-day. MOTOR CAR DRIVER DROWNED. (Peb United Press Association.) • WELLINGTON, July 13. When a mile on the Wellington side of the Rimutaka Hill, the driver of a motor car took the wrong turning _ and dropped 12ft into the Pakurithai River. Herbert Edwards, of Masterton, the driver, was drowned, while Minchin (Martinborough), Kye (Masterton), and the other occupants escaped.
