OTAGO FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION.

MEETING OF EXECUTIVE The weekly meeting of the executive of the Otago Football Association was held last night, when the president (Ms H. J. Duncan) occupied the chair. The Schools Committee submitted the following recommendations for the tournament suggested by the Wellington Association :—(1) That the dates August 17 and 21 be accepted; (2) that the matches be played under conditions drawn up last year; (3) that the selectors be Messrs I. C. Fraser, T. Ruddiinan, and R. Allan; (4) that nominations from private schools be called by the secretary of the O.F.A. and handed in by Thursday; (5) that Mr Beattie be appointed manager; (6) that a practice ball be provider!. An application for a ball for the Waikouaiti School was granted. The Canterbury Football Association wrote asking if there were any possibility of an Otago representative team being sent to play in Christchurch this season. If Otago contemplated challenging for the Brown Shield or the Peter Dawson Cup in the future then a game against a Christchurch representative team would be a good try out.—The letter was received, and it was decided to keep the matter “steadily in view.” The Secretary of the Mcrnington Club wrote, in reply to the executive’s letter regarding the commencement of games at Kaitangata. He drew attention to a motion that was passed Inst year in this connection. If his memory served him right, clubs playing at Kaitangata could arrange with the home team at what time the match would commence, such information were in Kaitangata’s hands before the Thursday of the week. Provided that this motion had not since been rescinded he presumed that the said motion would have precedence over the letter in question.—The letter was received. The Secretary of the Southern Club appealed against the decision of the referee in the match against Mosgiel at Mosgiel, when a goal scored by a Southern player was disallowed. The kick was taken and scored from, but because the Mosgiel , goalkeeper bad left his goal line the referee ■ annulled the goal and ordered the kick to bo retaken. The writer referred to Law 17 of the Football Association Laws of the/ Game, which said • that “when a goal resulted from a penalty kick it should not be nullified although there may have befln an infringement of law by the defending side.” This quotation appeared os an instruction to referees, and the writer asked that his club be awarded the game. ■ The Secretary reported that the referee (Mr Sudden) had called at the office, and had said that the whistle was blown before the goal was kicked. After a certain amount of discussion, it was agreed, on the . motion of Mr M’Loan, that the match be replayed if necessary at the end of the round. It was also decided to refund the deposit (10s). It was decided that a team bo sent to Invercargill on August 1, and that a manager bo appointed next Monday. Mr MTnnes said that he had previously mentioned a case in which a team had played four Saturdays in succession without the proper referee. “Well, it occurred again on Saturday,” he said, “for the fifth time. There was no referee in the match between Old Boys and Northern at the Gardens.” A Delegate: Wo should write, to the Referees’ Association. Mr Brown: I don’t think it is any good, Mr Chairman. We are getting a lot of resignations. In regard to the senior knock-out competition, it was decided that in the event of a draw after 90 minutes’ play, an extra 10 minutes should bo played each way. corners to count during the extra time if the goals scored were still equal.
