WOOD PIGEONS.

TO THE EDITOR. Sin —I read with interest the letter of John’Dove in yesterday’s Daily Times regarding tho introduction of xvood pigeons, and in to-day’s paper I notice the matter was referred to. at the meeting of the Ott ,fr o Provincial Council of the Nexv Zealand Farmers’ Union. 1 can endorse all that has been said against those birds and can well remember, in my young days xvhat a curse they xvore to tho farmers in the Old Country. In the autumn, after harvest they would light in hundreds, if not in thousands, on tho stubble fields and eat the young clover plants When shot their crops xvore found to be full of lire green leaves of tho young clover. If introduced hero they might become nearly as great a curse as the rabbits or sparrows.— I am, etc., R. W. Glesdinning--52 Manor place, July 10.
