Ramsay Abbey, the seat of Lord de Ramsey, who died recently, has a stratum of romance underlying its rather modern magnificence. Twice within a short period the estate descended to female heirs, anil in both instances the unforeseen happened. In 1074 the joint heiresses, members of the Cromwell family, sold the lands lu the noted Colonel Titus, whose writings afterwards shocked the great Protector. Then the colonel died, leaving the estate to his wife and daughters, the latest survivor of whom left it to two servants. Prom them it was purchased into the Fellowee family, ancestors of Lord de Ramsey.
