A MISSING KETCH
INQUIRY INTO SUPPOSED LOSS. Pros* Association—By Telegraph—Copyright MELBOURNE, July 8. The marine inquiry into the supposed loss of the ketch Lialeeta has opened. The Lialeeta has not been heard of since the night of April 15, when she left Semaphore (South Australia) after talcing in stores. William Clark, harbour master at Launceston, gave evidence that he inspected the Lialeeta at Launceston on February 6 last. Ho was of the opinion that the ketch was well found and that the sails were not in a bad conlition. William Knight, the owner of the ketch, said ho valued the vessel at about £4OOO. She was insured for £IOOO. The inquiry was adjourned. LEAKY CONDITION SUGGESTED. SYDNEY, July 8. (Received July 8, at 9.10 p.m.) At the inquiry into the loss of the Lialecta a letter from John’ Bell, leading hand on the ketch, was read, in which he stated that he did not think he would do many trips as the ketch leaked and had to be pumped every half-hour to keep her dry. The Lialeeta was bound from Spencer's Gullv (South Australia) for Melbourne. Captain H. W.
