TWENTY-FIRST ANNUAL TRIALS.
Tim Clutha Collie Club’s championship trials were concluded on Friday, huntaway event was completed. This was won by a local competitor (Mr lan Vatt, Warepa), whose dog Ben put up a 7 v ery line performance in each run. Mr Watts second dog ran into fourth place, Ihe other prizes were well distributed, going to Southland and Canterbury.
A driving and yarding competition concluded the trials, 'and for this there .were 20 entries. Some good work was put up, especially by the winner (Mr M‘Elwreath s Help), but, speaking generally, the judge said there was nothing outstanding in the work. . It is worthy of note that the winner of the championship huntaway (Mr I. Watt s Ben) was bred by Mr D. Morgan (Te Houka), the sire being Mr P. A. Watts Bob. The winners of the championship head (Mr J. Donald’s Mack) was sired by Mr D. Morgan’s Tweed Junior. Results: CHAMPIONSHIP HUNTAWAY.— Through three sets of poles. Mazo’s heading pup, value £6 ss, to competitor with most entries. —Messrs F. Harris (Nightcaps) and J Rose (Woitahuna) were equal with seven entries, and on a draw Mr Harris won the pup. M r IV. Knox’s field glasses for local competitor scoring most points in the trials.— Mr J. Rose (Waitahuna), 141 points. Mr W. Keen’s bridle to outside competitor scoring most points. —Mr F.
