THE OROTJA ELECTORATE. NEW REFORM CANDIDATE. (From Ou® Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, June 22. ' Mr Gordon Eliot. th e Refonn candidate for the Oroua constituency, is a man in the prime of life and a New Zealander. He is popular, and is well known throughout the district. He has been representing well-known firms as a stock and station agent in the Wairarapa and the Feilding districts. For a number of years he was manager at the Flock House Estate for Messrs M'Keivie Bros., and in that capacity he was conspicuously successful. He is a man with large experience in pastoral and agricultural pursuits. Though well up in years, ho was one of the first to volunteer io serve in the war. but was then not considered medically fit. _ Ho made a second attempt later on to join the forces, but was again unsuccessful. Afterwards he did most valuable work in recruiting. Ho is an intellectual man, and an impressive speaker. ... Th e Hon. Mr Guthrie, the sitting member, will not bo a candidate at tho general election.

GISBORNE, June 22. Mr ,T. R. Kirk, solicitor, has announced his intention to stand for the Gisborne seat as a supporter of fusion.
