CAR FALLS OVER BRIDGE,

OCCUPANTS’ LUCKY ESCAPE

(Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, June 22.

A five-seater car broke through the side of the bridge at Ihumata on Saturday afternoon, and fell into the tidal creek 20ft below. The occupants were Mr Jcfcoato, a farmer, two women, and a child. The man was slightly injured, but the others were unhurt. The tide was right out, and the car fell into shallow water, where there is 16ft at high tide. The car was extensively damaged. CYCLIST SERIOUSLY INJURED.

KNOCKED DOWN BY A MOTOR CAR,

Whilo cycling home to lunch along the Bay View road at midday yesterday au elderly manned man, named Thomas Stevenson, occupied as a gardener, was knocked off his bicycle by a motor car driven by Dr Lindon. The driver of the car quickly rendered first, aid to the injured cyclist, who was sent to the hospital in an unconscious condition. His injuries included a fractured skull and concussion of the brain. At a late hour last night it was ascertained that the sufferer was still unconscious.

WATERSIDE WORKERS INJURED. John Williamson, a waterside worker, residing at Meridian street, Port Chalmers, while working on the Corinna last night, was caught by the sling and received injuries to his chest, and left, hand and bruises on the scalp . He was removed to the Dunedin Hospital. William Rumble, also a wharf labourer, residing at 295 King street, was admitted to the Hospital at 10.5 p.m. yesterday. He was leaving the Opihi after work, when he slipped on the deck, receiving injuries to his shoulder and face.
