ITALIAN PEOPLE DISAPPOINTED

(Received Juno 22, at 5.5 p.m.) The Dailv Chronicle states that the betrothal of‘Princess Mafalda disappointed the Italian people, as Prince Pnilip of Hesse is a throneless prince, and is nearly related to the Hoheiizollerns. Ihe Italians hoped that one of their princesses would marry into a reigning family, Philip is a Imtherau,’ and the Princess is of the House of Savoy, and is not supposed to marry a Protestant without a Papal dispensation. This difficulty, however. has been cleared up. The marriage is likely to take place , m August. The Prince ‘and Princess will live in Rome near the Italian King.—A. aiid N.Z. Cable.
