PLUNKET SOCIETY, WAIKOUAITI.

For a considerable time a desire has been evinced to have a branch of the Blanket Society in Waikouaiti, and it took practical shape yesterday in the formation of a branch of this society. A deputation from Palmerston consisting of Mesdamcs Thomas, Richards, Mayer, Kennct, M'Kimy, and Dr Thomas waited on a meeting ol ladies convened to consider the question ot establishing a Plunkct Society, and gave much valuable information and guidance. The following office-bearers wore elected: President, Mrs J. J. Cairncy; vice-president, Mrs Templeton; hon, secretary and treasurer, Mrs David Malloch. A email committee was elected, with power to add to its number. The present arrangements are. that the nurse will visit Waikouaiti fortnightly on the second and fourth Wednesdays.
