Bruce (Prime Minister), referring to Mr Massey, characterised Mm as essentially a democrat, and one of the finest representatives "which modern democracy had produced. To his country" Mr Massey had left a long record of public service, and to future generations an out-stand-ing example of what a man of character nnid capacity might achieve by the pursuit of high ideals. Tlie House adjourned for an hour as a mark of respect. The Senate also carried a resolution of sympathy regarding the death of Mr Massey.
