An enjoyable social evening was hold on Monday last in Kroon’s Hall, when the Hope of Dunedin and Rescue Lodges, 1.0.G.T., wore the guests of (he Hope of Dunedin Tent, No. 20, 1.0. R. Sis. D. Bond. C.K., presided over a large gathering of members and friends, and welcomed the members of the visiting lodges, after which a highly commendable programme was rendered by Mrs Bell, Bros. 11. -Sincock and J. Doig (solos), Sis. Dray and Duncan (recitations). Misses Bell and Nita Gain (recitations), Mr W. Ford (violin solo), Bis. Gilland (pianoforte solo), Bro. A. V. Gain (humorous selection). , In each case tlio performers had to respond to encores. Mrs J. Doig proved a very efficient accompanist. Following the programme, supper was handed round, after which all present joined in playing parlour games, which were kept, up till 11 p.m., when the gathering concluded with the singing of “Auki Lang Syne.” During the, evening Bros. E. Wilson, C.T., and Bro. H. Sincock, B. returned thanks on behalf of their respective lodges, and expressed the hope that such gatherings would be held more frequently, as they tended to promote more friendly relations between tlio two Orders. The business of tho Tent was dealt with prior to the social, when two now members were proposed for initiation, and Bro. L. V. Gain was elected Tent reporter. To obtain evidence against a dentist whom ho lielinvcd to be unregistered, a policeman at Dudley. Worcestershire, had a tooth extracted. He paid 2s 6d. Subsequently the dentist, James Carr, was fined £5.
