EARLY SETTLERS’ ASSOCIATION.

The monthly meeting of the committee of the Otago Early Settlers’ Association was held yesterday afternoon; Mr Wm. Hicolson (president) in. the chair. The following gifts were received and votes of thanks passed to the donors;—From Mrs H. Auston, George street, two pictures “Early Dunedin”; from estate of late Mrs E. Pearce, Warrander street, framed portrait of the late Hr Pearce and herself—Mr Pearce (Derwentwater, 1861), Mrs Pearce (Stormcloud 1860); from R. A. Denniston, Port Chalmers, framed portrait of his late parents, Mr and Mrs It. B. Denniston (.Nelson, 1862); from H. B. Flett, Table Hill, photograph of four generations of his family—H. B. Flett (Ceylon, 1863). The following deaths were reported:—Mrs S. Morrison, Leith street (78), Wm. Davie, 1867; P. Macauly, Port Chalmers (89), Thane of Fyfe, ISG2; Mrs W. Hope Miller, Forbury crescent, late Manuka Creek (.77), John Duncan, 1862; Mrs Joseph Wm. Wain, Queen street (75), Gala, 1860; Geo. Wilson, Milton (84) Gabriel’s Gully, 1861; Mrs James Brown, Waikouaiti (81), Chili, 1860; Mrs L. H. J. Marshall, Highgate (77), Strathfieldaaye, 1858; John Inglis, Waikouaiti (86), India, 1862. The .following early settlers were enrolled: —Charles E. George, Kavensbourne (Omeo, 1862); Mrs James Freeman, Abbotsford (Warrior Queen, 1858); Henry Jno, Bacon, Dannevirke. Hawke's Bay {England, 1865); A. F. Robertson, Dunedin (Ethereal, 1864). Ninteen descendants were also enrolled.
