TWENTY-FIVE YEARS OFT THRONE. ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. ROME, June 7. Tile Chamber of Deputies was crowded on the occasion of a special sitting to celebrate the twenty-fifth anniversary of the King’s accession.'A proposal in favour of conferring the Military Medal for valour on his Majesty was adopted. The proceedings were enthusiastic. ' . ! The Diplomatic Corps visited the King and conveyed its congratulations. Three deputies, representing respectively the People’s Party, the Democrats, and the Liberals, constituting the constitutional Opposition, also proceeded to the Quirinal and presented an address of homages The city is beflagged and illuminated.’ Delegation's are pouring in from all parts of Italy for the purpose of participating in the celebrations. The celebrations are general throughout Italy. The troops were reviewed in Rome during the morning, after which their Majesties drove in state to the Quirinal, and received the members of the Government. Many Deputies and Senators and the Presidents of the Senate and the Chamber read loyal addresses. The King delivered a speech of thanks. The King and the Heir Apparent cor‘ ciially conversed with Signor Mussolini and several of the Cabinet Ministers and members of the Chamber of Deputies.— Reuter. King Victor Emmanuel, who was bom in 1859, succeeded to the throne on the death of his father in July, 1900.
