SAFELY landed in Australia (at Broome) Wing Commander the Marchese De Pinedo described his remarkable long distance flight which can be followed by reference to the route map above. From Kupang to Broome is 570 miles and he covered the distance in six hours. De Pinedo said during the first stage of the flight from Brindisi to Alexandria, conditions were good but from Bombay to Calcutta was the most uncomfortable part of the journey, a height of 9,000 feet having to be kept.
